Hello, let me introduce myself. My name is Enya, I am 20 and from Brussels in Belgium and I have chosen to spend my final year internship here in Northern Ireland.
I speak French and English (I mean I try to speak English!). I am studying Public Relations in a college in Brussels, as students, we must find an internship in Belgium or abroad. Without any hesitation, I choose to do it in Northern Ireland. I took it as a challenge for myself. I have never been alone abroad. I took it as a whole new experience!
I arrived in Belfast on Sunday 5th February with my mother, my brother and all my luggage. Being in a new town with a foreign language, this is both exciting and stressful at the same time. I had no accommodation and on Monday I started my internship in Girl Friday NI. I have not met Julie, I was a little bit stressed. Now a month in, I can happily say that the stress has gone even after this first day, once I met Julie and I knew the internship would be good! She also helped me to find the best house share ever in Belfast.
My experience alone started on Thursday when my mum and my brother went back to Belgium. My first day in Girl Friday NI, first day as an intern. I was curious about all the new things I was going to be doing. My first week was very fast, I have been learning many things. And now I have lots of new memories that I will tell my friends and family later.
I really like my life here in Belfast. People are helpful and very friendly. have now been here for one month, it is gone so fast! My experience at Girl Friday NI has involved many new skills which I am loving. Skills such as emails marketing, managing social media, using new platforms, creative design and of course blogging. This, of course, involves customer service and PR, understanding how businesses function and I really find it very interesting.
Until the next time!
Au revoir
Enya
